The purpose of the IOF Young Leaders Academy (YLA) is to enable young orienteers aged 16–25 to develop their talents and leadership competencies. It also provides an opportunity to network and make new friends within the global orienteering community.
Content
- During the day: Participation in “5Days-O” races and action learning through support to the organizers in different roles/functional areas before or after your race;
- Late afternoon/evening: Lectures and workshops at the event center or accommodation focused on improving personal orienteering, organizational and coaching skills.

Our “chalets” at Camping Cevedale are close to the 5 Days-O event centre.

Requirements
- Age: 16 – 25
- Ability to finish an orienteering-competition in your category
- Good English skills
- Maximum of three participants per country/national federation
Application
You should apply with a short video of one minute in English showing:
- 30” your motivation (What is your motivation?)
- 30” freestyle (What else is important?)
The video, or a link to your video, must be sent by email and must include your name, gender, home country, email address, and date of birth.

Participants: Maximum of 22 participants (maximum of 3 per nation)
Participation fee and other costs
The participation fee for YLA is differentiated based on the membership fee groups for the national federations in the IOF. Click here to see the fee group for each national federation (column 2).
- Membership fee group 1-3: 600 EUR participation fee per person
- Membership fee group 4-7: 400 EUR participation fee per person
- Membership fee group 8-10 (including Ukraine): 300 EUR participation fee per person
The participation fee covers seven nights of accommodation, food, entry fee for all stages of “5 Days-O”, transportation to/from stages (when not walking distance), lectures, workshops and a T-shirt for YLA participants.

The participation fee must be paid to the IOF after selection of participants, either with ordinary bank transfer or with PayPal. More information here:

Note: that you should not pay the participation fee until you receive confirmation from IOF that you are selected to be among the participants in 2026.
