The nominations are in, now it’s time to vote to see who is the favourite to become Athlete of the Year 2021.
At the end of the nomination period December 20th we had received 124 nominations for 69 athletes. Among the nominations a random draw was made to see who won prizes from our partners SIGN Sport and str8. Winners of a str8 compass are Marcello Bustamanti and Marisa Costa, and the winner of a World Orienteering Day shirt from SIGN Sport is Vegard Gulbrandsen. Congratulations!
Now its time to vote for who you think will be Athlete of the Year in 2021!
Visit https://2021athlete.com/ for a list of all nominations and the motivations. Voting will be carried out for each of the 4 disciplines. To vote simply click on the athlete of your choice and scroll to the bottom of the page to enter your name and email address and press Submit Vote. You can vote for athletes in each of the 4 disciplines but to do so you will need to refresh your browser between votes.
The first round of voting will go until December 28th when we will reduce the field to the top contenders in each discipline. The second round of voting will end on New Years Eve, December 31st, and the predictions for Athlete of the Year 2021 will be announced on January 1, 2021. Then we just have to wait until the end of the year to see who was right.
