Event decisions from the May 21 Council meeting

The Council made 3 new decisions about upcoming events at its meeting Friday May 21st.

An agreement has been reached with the Portuguese Orienteering Federation to host the European MTB Orienteering Championships 2021 (EMTBOC) and European Junior and Youth MTB Orienteering Championships 2021 (EJYMTBOC) in connection with the final round of the CX80 MTBO World Cup and the World Masters MTB Orienteering Championships (WMMTBOC)  in Abrantes, Portugal from October 6 to 10, 2021. This replaces the EMTBOC and EJYMTBOC 2021 in Russia which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 protocol concerns.

The events will be organised in Madona , the skiing sports capital of Latvia, which has previously hosted two other major IOF SkiO events – ESOC 2013 and SkiO World Cup 2006.

The Council appointed Austria as the organisers of the World Ski Orienteering Championships 2024 (WSOC). The event appointment includes the Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships 2024 (JWSOC) and the European Youth Ski Orienteering Championships 2024 (EYSOC).
