EYOC begins Thursday in Slovenia

Many of Europe’s best youth athletes have gathered in Slovenia this week to compete in the 2026 European Youth Orienteering Championships.

Around 440 athletes from 34 countries will race in three different events from Thursday to Saturday.

The EYOC consists of a sprint in the host city of Nova Gorica on Thursday before the championships move into the hilly forest terrain east of the city for Long distance on Friday and Relays on Saturday.

The championships are run in four classes: W16 + W18 + M16 + M18 and each competition day the races begin at 10:00 CEST (UTC +2).
