Joint Meeting 2023 held in Prague

This weekend, members of all IOF commissions and the Disciplinary Panel established in 2022 gathered in Prague, Czechia for the IOF Joint Meeting 2023, together with Council and Office. In total, 65 members of the IOF organisation were present in Prague, and in addition many others participated digitally.

It was the first in-person Joint Meeting since the pandemic and gave all the members the chance for thorough discussions and talks from Friday through Sunday.

During the joint session on Saturday IOF President Leho Haldna gave the keynote speech summarizing an eventful 2022 with a larger competition program in Foot Orienteering than usual and IOF’s response to the war in Ukraine.

Furthermore, Fair Play was the main point on the agenda, including a workshop to give input to the development of IOF’s Fair Play E-learning. Øivind Holt, chairperson of the Disciplinary Panel, gave a presentation on the work of the panel, and raised important questions to continue to discuss, like jury working conditions.

IOF Council also held Council meetings during the weekend. Council approved an application for Provisional Membership from Luxemburg and welcomed them as IOF Member no. 77. Further, Council approved competition rules and World Cup special rules for 2023 and decided to add an optional third individual competition to the current EMTBOC event programme after consultations with the MTBO community and Member Federations so that the EMTBOC would consist of four medal competitions.

The minutes from the Council meetings will be published in a few days.

There was even time for an orienteering sprint in the streets of the Czech capital Saturday afternoon, as you can see on the photos by Dusan Vystavel below.
