The International Orienteering Federation has published a new e-learning course, “Beat the Heat,” on the IOF Education Platform.
Developed by the IOF Heat Policy Working Group, the course is primarily aimed at athletes, but it is open to anyone interested in learning more about competing and training in hot conditions.

The course provides practical knowledge on a range of topics, including:
- What heat stress is and how it affects the body
- The impact of heat on athletic performance
- Recognition and response to heat-related illness
- The IOF Policy for heat at IOF events
- Strategies for preparing to train and compete in hot environments
- Best practices during and after competition
“Beat the Heat” is designed to help athletes improve performance, enhance safety, and make informed decisions when facing challenging heat conditions.
