WUOC to begin in Switzerland August 17th

More than 200 athletes have made their way to the northwestern Switzerland to compete in the FISU World University Orienteering Championships from Wednesday.

Five championship races in five days await – Sprint on Wednesday, Long on Thursday and a Sprint Relay on Friday before the Middle and Relay on Saturday and Sunday.

The forest competitions will take place in terrains with moderate to steep hillsides with good runnability and visibility, whereas the sprint competitions are held in flat urban terrain in the cities of Biel/Bienne and Langenthal.

WUOC is for athletes between 18 and 25 who are currently studying at a university or similiar institute or have obtained their degree in the year preceding the event.

28 nations have entered the championships with Australia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Japan, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland participating with the maximum 12 athletes.

Wednesday’s Sprint (from 14.30 CEST) and Saturday’s Middle distance (from 8.45 CEST) will be broadcasted at IOF LIVE.
