World Orienteering Day 2021 postponed to September

World Orienteering Day is all about increasing the visibility and accessibility of orienteering to young people, increasing the number of participants both in schools’ activities, as well as in clubs’ activities in all countries of IOF Member Federations. It is also about helping teachers to implement orienteering in a fun and educational way and to get more new countries to take part in orienteering. To give as many as possible the chance to practice orienteering.

The difficult situation with the Covid-19 pandemic in the world looks to continue, at least for the first half of 2021. Most countries are projecting vaccination programs to be far enough advanced for opening wider activities around mid-year (June-July).

The IOF does not wish to encourage breaking any national laws or/and recommendations concerning the gathering of people etc.

With this in consideration, the decision has been made to postpone World Orienteering Day to September. The decision has been taken in collaboration with the World Orienteering Day partners.

The new date for World Orienteering Day 2021 is the 8th of September. But, as usual, any activity held between the 8th of September to the 14th of September can be registered as a World Orienteering Day event.

Events that are already preregistered at World Orienteering Day webpage will remain until September.
