The last day of World Orienteering Championships 2024 started Tuesday morning in western Edinburgh, where the Knock-Out Sprint Qualification took place.
Located in a relatively flat residential area, qualification courses between 2,4 – 2,8 kilometers containing many short legs with constant route choice challenges awaited the athletes.
All of them trying to make in into top 12 in their respective heats to gain a place in the quarter finals in the afternoon.
20 nations ended up qualifying – among them Japan (Kaho Kondo) and China (Longyuan Lin).
Inka Nurminen (FIN), Victoria Mag (HUN) and Simona Aebersold (SUI) won their hearts in the women’s class and Tuomas Heikkilä (FIN), Yannick Michiels (BEL) and Tomas Krivda (CZE) were the fastest men on Tuesday morning.
After lunch, the Knock-Out Sprint race moves into central Edinburgh, where the Quarter finals begin at 14:25 BST (UTC +1).
All nations can follow the free Quarter final on Eurovision Sport, and from 16:00 the semi finals begin. The free Eurovision stream continues in UK, France, Germany, Belgium and Ireland, on several national TV channels and on IOF LIVE.
