The world’s best orienteers may well start preparing for Iberian terrains for 2028 as the European Orienteering Championships will be held in Portugal.
EOC will at the same time serve as the final in the 2028 World Cup.
This was decided by IOF’s Council at its meeting on October 4, 2024 following a proposal from IOF’s FootO Commission.
The championships are scheduled to be held in October or November 2028 in Aguiar de Beira in the north-east of the country, where JWOC 2022 also took place.
Portugal has hosted the European Orienteering Championships once before. It was in 2014 in Palmela.
