It was raining on Idre Fjäll in Sweden on August 14, 2021, when 19-year-old Hanna Lundberg was the first to start in the middle distance race at the orienteering World Cup.

And after a largely flawless race, she sat in the leader’s chair and waited. And waited and waited, because all the favorites lost time in the demanding mountain terrain, and in the end there were no more left and the Swedish junior runner was suddenly also a World Cup winner.

Here in June 2025, the World Cup returns to Idre Fjäll and in the IOF Podcast, Hanna Lundberg tells the story of her shocking victory in 2021 and shares her thoughts on the upcoming season.
