Norwegian World Cup organisers well on their way to the season opener

The international orienteering season will start off with a bang in the end of April, when the Orienteering World Cup 2023 kicks off in south-eastern Norway.

TV viewers in numerous countries will be able to follow the three races, which will take place in the region of Østfold, where WOC 2019 also was held.

Last week the local energy company Østfold Energi was announced as main sponsor for the first World Cup round. Østfold Energi was a main partner during WOC as well.

– We are proud that world-class sporting events are coming to our region, and want to contribute to making this possible, says Hege Håkonsen, director of HR at Østfold Energi in this news article from the Norwegian Orienteering Federation.

The Norwegian world cup organisers have surpassed their expectations for sponsors and partners, thus showing the attractiveness of hosting major international orienteering races.

The sponsorship agreement was announced at a meeting in the city of Sarpsborg, where representatives from the organizing clubs, Norwegian OF, Østfold Energi and IOF were present.

The reigning World Cup winner Kasper Fosser (NOR) joined the meeting and gave an interview (see below) about the forests of Østfold, his prioritization of the World Cup and his belief in being able to beat the Swedes.

The broadcasts from the races will of course be available at IOF LIVE.
