On the last individual race day at the 2025 Junior World Orienteering Championships, Hungary’s Marton Csoboth and the Czechia’s Viktorie Skachova emerged as the strongest competitors in the demanding middle distance race. The area around the Laghestel Biotope near Baselga di Piné set the stage for a dramatic contest in the somewhat dense and technical terrain.
In the end, victory went to those who could combine sharp decision-making with endurance: Marton Csoboth and Viktorie Skachova.

Marton Csoboth claimed Hungary’s first gold of the championships with a commanding performance from start to finish. The 19-year-old took the lead at the first split and never looked back, finishing in 25:52. Switzerland’s Loic Berger (+1:15), settled for silver, while Finland’s Rasmus Toyryla (+2:10) secured the bronze.
In the women’s race, the finish was filled with late drama. What seemed like a repeat of last year’s Czech one-two, with Lucie Dittrichova ahead of Viktorie Skachova, was overturned by a late mistake from the defending champion. Skachova seized the opportunity and crossed the line first in 25:22.
