Follow the Finnish relay league final on IOF TV Sunday

On Sunday, the 2024 Finnish relay league will be decided at Salo in southern Finland and it can be followed live on IOF TV.

The final is the sixth stage of the league this year and for both women and men the overall victory is at stake.

The final relays are three-legged for both men and women with middle distance courses in the terrain described as: “easily runnable forest and open rocky terrain with significant elevation changes.”

On the women’s side, Tampereen Pyrintö lead with 570 points after four wins during the season, most recently in the relay at the Finnish championships three weeks ago, where Lotta Karhola, Venla Taulavuori and Venla Harju took home the win.

Kalevan Rasti is in second position with 464 points, while Tampereen Pyrintö’s second team follows in third place (455 points).

Several teams can still reach first place since double points (200 points for the win) are awarded in the last round.

Close race in men’s category
For the men, it is much closer, with Helsingin Suunistajat having 520 points ahead of Tampereen Pyrintö (505 points), while Ikaalist Nouseva-Voima follows with 500 points.

Kalevan Rasti (Samuel Heinonen, Tomás Krivda, Miika Kirmula) took home the Finnish relay championship in September and holds fourth place (439 points).

However, the Finnish clubs can look forward to competition from some of their Swedish neighbours, as Stora Tuna OK, who won the women’s and men’s classes at both the 10Mila and Jukola/Venla relays, will compete in both classes.

IOF TV’s experienced commentator Jonas Merz will guide the viewers through the relays in English and the ticket is 6 EUR for the broadcast.
