Czechia took the first set of gold medals at the Junior World Orienteering Championships Saturday afternoon in Trentino, Italy.
The team, consisting of Hana Vitkova, Daniel Bolehovsky, Tomas Urbanek and Lucie Dittrichova was among the leading teams all through the relay and on the final leg, Dittrichova was sent out with a small lead.
After a strong race, she had time to celebrate with the entire team crossing the finish line in the small city of Levico Terme hosting the relay.
Behind her, Sweden’s Alva Björk and Hungary’s Rita Maramarosi fought a fierce battle for silver, with the Swede winning the photo finish decision eight seconds after the Czech team.
