IOF’s Environment and Sustainability Commission has published the “Climate Transition Action Plan to Net Zero.”
The plan was approved and adopted by the IOF Council during its meetings in January.
The plan reviews IOF’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting environmental sustainability within the sport of orienteering.
In line with the Sports for Climate Action initiative, IOF has adopted an ambitious target for a 50% emissions reduction by 2030 (with respect to the baseline year 2019) and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
The plan outlines initiatives the IOF has already taken or plans to take in relation to achieving the goals, just as it contains an analysis of challenges in the efforts to achieve them.
