Chinese championships with Huichang punching system

Last week, the highest level of orienteering event in China, the National Orienteering Championships were held in the Yanshan district.

The championships opened on Monday and are actually the 2024 edition because it was postponed from last year.

The competition attracted 117 teams and 912 athletes from 25 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The championships featured five major events: Sprint, Middle, Long, Relay, and Sprint Relay.

On the opening day of the competition, the Sprint Relay and Sprint events were held.


The Zheijang team won the mixed Sprint Relay, Hao Shuangyan won the women’s elite race and Li Zhuoye took the men’s title.

The races made use of the Huichang contactless card timing system, which has received a provisional approval by the IOF.

Every control was linked with data transmission, so the spectators could follow the races meticulously.

The Huaching system is authorized for use in IOF FootO World Ranking Events after meeting the requirements established by the IOF Rules Commission and the IOF IT Commission and receiving the provisional approval in the latest IOF Council meeting.
