Arena: Genova – Piazza Matteotti
Map: 1:4000, 2.5 m, June 2026 (ISSprOM 2019-2 version 2024) Mapper Samuele Curzio
Course Setter: Alessio Tenani Controller Marcello Lambertini
Preliminary length: on shortest possible route: QF 1,8 km (7’30” men, 8’ women) / SF 2,0 km (7’30” men, 8’ women) / F 1,9 km (7’30” men, 8’ women)
Terrain: Genova city centre is a dense and intricate historic urban terrain extending from the waterfront to steep hillside areas, characterized by narrow alleys, irregular street patterns and open squares, complemented by some larger streets and limited green areas; the terrain includes steep sections with stairways, ramps and significant level changes, adding a vertical dimension to route choice, and features very high route choice complexity, frequent changes of direction and variable visibility, with generally high runnability in open sections but reduced speed in the narrowest and steepest parts, and includes hazards such as pedestrians, street furniture, limited-visibility corners, possible traffic, paved and stone surfaces that may be slippery when wet, and numerous uncrossable features that must be strictly respected.
