One of Norway’s largest media groups, Amedia, will broadcast the 2024 World Ski Orienteering Championships in Ramsau, Austria.
Amedia, publisher of more than 80 newspapers across Norway, has acquired the Norwegian TV rights to the sprint event on 23 January and the pursuit on 24 January and will broadcast the competitions through the direktesport.no platform, which is accessible for Amedia´s more than 700 000 subscribers.
The championships will be held from January 23-27 and feature in total 270 athletes from 20 nations, when including the junior and youths. Norway is one of the world’s strongest ski orienteering nations and participates in Ramsau with a strong team of 15 women and men, including the world number one on the men’s side, Jørgen Baklid. Amedias ambitions is to reach out widely i Norway and present Ski Orienteering to the masses.
“The agreement with Amedia is an important milestone for IOF in its ambition to increase exposure for the sport in more media channels and markets throughout the world. It is also the first time the World Ski Orienteering Championships are broadcast live in Norway by one of the country’s largest media companies,” says Henrik Eliasson, IOF CEO.
The broadcasts from all four championship races are also available world wide with English commentary on IOF TV.
