The Norwegian athlete Sondre Ruud Bråten won the Final in today’s TempO event ahead of strong competition. He was closely challenged by Ondrez Macek, Czech Republic who ended just 6 seconds short of victory.
There was then quite a gap in time to the joint bronze medallists, the young Czech athlete Pavel Ptacek and the very experienced Italian Alessio Tenani. Another Italian, Marcello Lambertini, was only 4 seconds away from a medal, in fifth place.
There was Qualification in the morning with 2 heats, 5 TempO stations to be tackled. The best 18 from each heat go to the afternoon Final, and one notable athlete, normally known for his speed and accuracy in TempO – Antti Rusanen, Finland – missed by one second. The Final had 9 stations, with competitors starting in reverse order of their Qualification finish. The venue on another hot day was the Japanese Gardens and surrounding terrain near Jelenia Góra, Poland, partly used for the Relay the day before.
The Championships continue with 2 days of PreO, the combined results deciding the medal-winners.
