The World Ski Orienteering Championships 2021 will start with a Sprint race this Wednesday, 24th of February in Kääriku Sports Center, Otepää, Estonia.
Estonia is hosting the World Ski Orienteering Championships for the first time, and it will be a 24th championships in a history of WSOCs.
38 women and 56 men from 16 nations will be at a sprint start line tomorrow, and only one reigning World Champion in Sprint will defend his title.
In the women’s field Tove Alexandersson is not taking part in this WSOC, so we will definitely have a new sprint champion on Wednesday.
Sergey Gorlanov shared a gold medal with Erik Rost two years ago in Piteå, but only Gorlanov will be defending his title, as Rost is not taking part in WSOC as well.
Together with the WSOC, the Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships and the European Youth Ski Orienteering Championships will be held.
The World Ski Orienteering Championships will be covered on Live Orienteering with Web-TV broadcasts from all competitions.
