UPDATED: The Executive Committee of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) approved a proposal to hold the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade in December 2021.
“We are extremely pleased that the Winter Universiade 2021 can still take place, in spite of the pandemic-induced postponement,” said FISU President Oleg Matytsin. “After very careful consultation between all relevant stakeholders, including the six cantons of Central Switzerland, we mutually agreed to hold the event in December 2021.”
The Winter Universiade 2021 with Ski Orienteering included, initially scheduled to take place in January 2021, will be held in Lucerne Switzerland between the 11th and the 21th of December 2021.

UPDATE November 12: FISU has decided to condense the programme and reduce events in the programme due to time, venue constraints and uncertain snow conditions. For Ski Orienteering, this means that only Sprint and Sprint Relay remain in the programme and if no other possibilities the courses will be on artificial snow and biathlon tracks.
