Team allocations for the Nokian Tyres World Orienteering Championships 2018

The national quotas for the Nokian Tyres World Orienteering Championships 2018 are published.

Eight top ranked countries in each class (women and men) are placed in Division 1 and could enter 3 athletes in the Middle and the Long distances. Next 14 countries in each class are in Division 2 and could enter 2 athletes; and the remaining countries – in Division 3 and could enter 1 runner in each race.

All federations could enter 3 athletes per gender in the Sprint race.

In addition to this, there will be the personal places for the World Champions 2017 in the Sprint, the Middle and the Long distances and for the regional champions in 12 months before the WOC2018.

Although Latvia men team is placed in Division 2, the Latvians could enter 3 athletes in the Middle and the Long distances as a host nation.

All member federations could enter 1 team per gender in the Relay and 1 team in the Mixed Sprint Relay.

Promotions and relegations

Men

Ukraine promoted from Division 2 to Division 1.
Great Britain relegated from Division 1 to Division 2.
Germany and Italy promoted from Division 3 to Division 2.
Bulgaria and Ireland relegated from Division 2 to Division 3.

Women

Latvia promoted from Division 2 to Division 1.
France relegated from Division 1 to Division 2.
Poland and Bulgaria promoted from Division 3 to Division 2.
Italy and Australia relegated from Division 2 to Division 3.

The allocations will be updated after the end of the European Orienteering Championships in May 2018 with the personal places for the European champions in the Long and Middle distances.

WOC team allocations
