Qualification rules for The World Games 2022

With the postponement of The World Games to 2022 and the cancellation of WOC 2020, it was necessary to develop new qualification rules for the 2022 World Games.

The new qualification rules for TWG 2022 have been revised by the IOF Foot Orienteering Commission and were approved by the IOF Council at its meeting on the 12th of July.

Due to the cancelled 2020 season many aspects have been considered by the IOF Foot Orienteering Commission. A list of those aspects are found in the The World Games 2022 Qualification Rules (document in the end of the article)

Qualification proposal
The proposed model for qualification would be to use:
• The Federation’s two best men and two best women in the sprint at WOC 2021.
• The Federation’s placing in the sprint relay at WOC 2021.
• The Federation’s two best men and two best women in the WOC 2021 individual middle distance.

Other aspects of qualification
It is proposed to retain the existing point score. It is planned to allocate national places (2+2 runners) as listed in the The World Games 2022 Qualification Rules document.

There will also be personal places for the 2021 individual World Champions.

Full details about remaining places etc are published in the The World Games 2022 Qualification Rules:
