Norwegian great Håvard Tveite has passed away

Norwegian Håvard Tveite, with 5 World Orienteering Championships medals including 2 Relay Golds, has passed away at the age of 59 after a period of illness.

In addition to his active career as an athlete, Håvard was a very active volunteer both in the Norwegian Orienteering Federation and in the IOF. He joined the IOF Map Commission in 2002 and became Chairman of the commission in 2007. He remained as Chairman until 2017. During his term the IOF International Specifications for Orienteering Maps went through multiple important revisions as the digitalisation of mapping and map printing processes became the norm. Håvards contribution to this process cannot be understated. He was awarded an IOF Silver Pin for his service to the IOF in 2017.
