More than 3000 athletes ready for WMOC in Italy

In the coming days, more than 3100 athletes from 40 countries will compete at the World Masters Orienteering Championship on the Gargano Peninsula on the east coast of Italy.

Champions will be crowned from the W/M35-classes and up to W/M95 in Sprint, Middle and Long Distances.

The sprint races will take place in the historic medieval city centers of Peschici and Vieste, before the forest distances take the athletes into the Umbra Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As always, several WOC medalists have entered the championships to chase WMOC-medals; among them eight times world champion Daniel Hubmann (SUI), who were 12th on the WOC Sprint in Denmark less than two weeks ago. Also Vroni König-Salmi (FIN), Øystein Kvaal Østerbø and Tore Sandvik (both NOR) join the WMOC in Italy to name a few.
