Lundberg and Hadorn win very dramatic World Cup Middle Distance

The Swedish junior Hanna Lundberg took her first World Cup victory after a perfect race when many of the favourites made big mistakes. Joey Hadorn, Switzerland, won the very tight men’s class, only three seconds ahead of Daniel Hubmann.

The young Swedish athlete Hanna Lundberg had bib number 1 and it was clear that her time would be very hard to beat. Both Simona Aebersold and Tove Alexandersson were challenging her, but both made mistakes in the end of the course. The Long Distance winner Simona Aebersold ended up in second position, 1.02 minutes after Lundberg. Natalia Gemperle was third, another 14 seconds behind and Tove Alexandersson was fifth.

Joey Hadorn, Switzerland, made a very strong race in the tough and technical Middle Distance. His last part of the course was really impressive, and he managed to win three seconds ahead of his teammate Daniel Hubmann. Simon Hector started early and was sitting in the leader chair for a long time, watching many athletes’ mistake in the demanding terrain. In the end he was third, taking his first World Cup podium, only 36 seconds after Hadorn.
