The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) has officially confirmed the programme for the 2027 Orienteering World Cup, set to feature four exciting rounds across Europe. The series will showcase a mix of forest and sprint formats, aimed at testing the full range of orienteering skills.
The season will open in Hälsingland, Sweden (2–6 June), known for its challenging forest terrain, followed by a second round in Česká Třebová, Czechia (2–6 July), nestled in the scenic highlands. Both rounds will feature long, middle, and relay formats.

Round three shifts focus to sprint disciplines as Thun, Switzerland hosts the European Orienteering Championships (30 Sept–3 Oct). The historic city, located on the shores of Lake Thun, will stage Sprint, Sprint relay, and Knock-Out Sprint races.
The World Cup will conclude in Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain (30–31 October), with the final standings decided through urban sprint events in the city’s dramatic Roman-era landscape.
”We are excited to host the World Cup final in 2027 and invite the world’s best orienteers to challenging sprint races in stunning Tarragona, which offers fantastic and scenic sprint terrain. It is also a golden opportunity to prepare for WOC 2028 in Catalonia, which will be the first ever World Orienteering Championships in Spain,” president of the Catalan Orienteering Federation, Josep M. Santiago says.

“During the 2027 season the IOF World Cup will continue on the new level with four rounds viewed by millions in TV. The continuity support the positioning of the World Cup as a premiere event series and strong brand in the international sports calendar. The goal is to keep on providing high quality competitions in suitable terrain for each format, where focus is placed upon quality in mapping and course setting. All presented in thrilling TV productions where we keep on pushing forward to make our sport even more well known and understandable by the wide audiences,” IOF CEO Henrik Eliasson says.
