Finland’s Tuomas Heikkilä leads the men’s World Cup, while Switzerland’s Natalia Gemperle and Simona Aebersold share first place in the women’s after this weekend’s Round 1 in Olten, Switzerland.
Heikkilä had an impressive weekend with a third place in Saturday’s Knock-Out Sprint, which he followed up with a second place in the sprint the following day.
That brings him up to 140 points after the first two races and with Sweden’s Jonatan Gustafsson hot on his heels. The Swede is 10 points behind after his second place on Saturday and fourth place in the sprint.
Sprint winner Emil Svensk (SWE) is third with 122 points, while Saturday’s Knock-Out winner Joey Hadorn (SUI) follows close behind with 117.
The rest of the top 6 is made up of Martin Regborn (SWE) 110 points and Timo Suter (SUI), who follows a good distance behind with 69 points.

It’s all Swiss at the top among the women, where Natalia Gemperle and Simona Aebersold share first place with 160 points.
Gemperle won Sunday’s sprint and was third in the Knock-Out final. Aebersold ran home two second places.
Nine-time World Cup winner Tove Alexandersson is third with 137 points after a Knock-Out win on Saturday and her seventh place the following day.
There are 55 points down to compatriot Hanna Lundberg in fourth place, while Andrine Benjaminsen (NOR) and Ida Agervig Kristiansson (DEN) share fifth place with 75 points each.
In the Team World Cup, Sweden has a slight lead over Switzerland at the top, with Norway, Finland, France and Denmark following in that order.

World Cup Round 2 takes place this weekend in Genoa, Italy where a sprint on Saturday and a sprint relay on Sunday await.
