Fosser takes first place in men’s World Cup – Alexandersson extends lead in women’s

The reigning Orienteering World Cup champion Kasper Fosser took the lead in this year’s World Cup standings after the European Orienteering Championships in Estonia, which also served as World Cup Round 2.

The Norwegian was fourth on the Long distance and 19th on Middle and has now scored a total of 222 points so far in the season.

EOC Long distance champion Martin Regborn (SWE) is now in second position with 180 points and has compatriot Gustav Bergman on his tail – just 7 points behind.

Tim Robertson (NZL) was leading the World Cup before EOC, but did not compete in Estonia. He is in fourth position with 160 points.

Alexandersson leads by 90 points
In the women’s World Cup, Tove Alexandersson (SWE) appears to be on the way to her eight consecutive titel.

With her silver medal from the EOC Long distance and the 14th place in Middle, she now leads with 307 points in total.

Behind her, Simona Aebersold (SUI) jumped to second place after finishing 14 on the Long distance and winning the Middle distance in Estonia. Aebersold has 217 points.

Venla Harju (FIN) had some impressive races in Estonia winning the Long distance and taking the bronze in Middle. That brings her to a new total of 194 points in third position with Lina Strand (SWE) in fourth with 175 points.

The 2022 World Cup will be decided in Switzerland at the World Cup final from October 1-3. The races in Davos Klosters feature a Relay, Middle and Long Distance.
