The European Orienteering Championships will return to Switzerland in 2027, with Thun as the host city.
Switzerland was appointed as host during the latest meeting in the IOF Council in May.
The 2027 edition of EOC is a sprint championship with three disciplines: Sprint, Sprint Relay and Knock-Out Sprint, held from September 29 to October 3, 2027.
Thun is no stranger to orienteering and was host city for the World Championships back in 1981, where the competitions took place a good distance away. This time the races will enter the city, which offers, among other things, an old town, castle area and parks along Lake Thun
The championships will also be part of the 2027 Orienteering World Cup, with the races in Switzerland forming the third of four rounds.
This will be the fourth time Switzerland has hosted the European Orienteering Championships. The most recent was in 2021 in Neuchâtel.
