Digital IOF High Level Event Seminar 2022

Friday and Saturday on the first weekend of February, the IOF Foot Orienteering Commission organised the High Level Event Seminar for the 14th time – after initial plans for an in-person HLES failed, in a digital format using MS Teams. The seminar, which primarily targets appointed organisers, potential future organisers and key persons involved in IOF High Level Events, including already appointed IOF Senior Event Advisers and Assistant Senior Event Advisers, normally attracts around 60 attendees. With the Seminar going digital and condensed into an evening and a morning session instead of going for a whole weekend, we could welcome 110 participants from 39 countries from all 5 continents and representing all 4 orienteering disciplines.

The Seminar was opened by introductory speeches from the new IOF CEO Henrik Eliasson and the new IOF Secretary General Sondre Sande Gullord, and then followed 11 other presentations ranging from the organisation of the WMOC 2021 at extreme short notice to timing system requirements for TV-production. The highlight of the Seminar was Daniel Wolf, WOC 2021 Sport Director’s stories about the WOC 2021.

After a year without international competitions, 2021 again offered some breathtaking stories from our high level events, which we could relive and learn from in this digital High Level Event Seminar” – concludes Áron Less, Chair of the IOF Foot Orienteering Commission.
