Czech Republic defends Mixed Relay championship at EMTBOC

The Czech national MTBO team can keep on bragging about being European Champions in Mixed Relay for another year after the last competition of the AXIØMA European Championships in Lithuania.

The team, consisting of Martina Tichovska, Vojtech Ludvik and Krystof Bogar won by nearly two minutes after a dramatic relay with several disqualifications. Most notably the Finnish team, who lead the relay after second leg was disqualified during the final leg.

Austria’s team with Marina Reiner, Tobias Breitschaedel and Andreas Waldmann finished second, while the Swedish team (Linn Bylars, Rasmus Nordgren, Marcus Jansson) snatched the bronze nine seconds ahead of Lithuania 2.

During the relay Latvia showed good form by coming first into the first exchange with two Danish teams just behind. But after three stable performances, the Czechs was crowned European Champions once again.

The juniors and youth athletes rode relays and here the Finnish W20 and W17 both won clear victories. Austria secured another medal by winning M20, whereas France won the M17 class.
