Corona virus concerns move the Asian Orienteering Championships 2020 to August

The Asian Orienteering Championships 2020 (AsOC 2020) which were scheduled to be held in the Republic of Korea from May 1-5 have been postponed and rescheduled to the new dates August 21 – 25, 2020. The new dates were proposed by the organiser due to concerns about the outbreak of the Corona virus (COVID-19) and travel recommendations for participants from other Asian countries.

The IOF is monitoring the global situation regarding the Corona virus for potential effects on IOF events and activities. Sources of information are the World Health Organisation (WHO), regional and local Center for Disease Control (CDC) bodies and other international sports bodies (IOC, GAISF, other International Federations).

The IOF will be in contact with upcoming event organisers to assess potential effects on each event. This is due to the fact that local conditions exist in each country based upon the recommendations of national health authorities. As information becomes available the IOF will update members and participants. Note that the situation regarding the spread of the virus and the global and local reactions to it are changing nearly daily and it is therefore difficult to make any blanket statements about what affect this will have on IOF activities.

At the current time no other IOF major events, other than AsOC 2020, are affected. For World Ranking Events (WRE) please consult IOF Eventor for the latest information.
