Colombia overall winner at the VIII Central American and Caribbean Championships

The eighth edition of the Central American and Caribbean Championships took place in the Dominican Republic in mid-October.

In the Colonial City of Santo Domingo (Sprint) and in Bayaguana (Middle Distance), the participants enjoyed the charm of the colonial spaces and a typical Dominican city. Both races were valid as WRE and 13 countries were represented, several of them belonging to the Central American and Caribbean Orienteering Confederation (COCACAO).

Colombia won with a significant number of medals. Second place went to Costa Rica and third was Mexico, as the photo shows.

The success of this competition was witnessed by Tom Hollowell, President of the IOF, who in addition to participating in the competitions was present at all the parallel activities of the championships including the COCACAO Congress.

The 2025 edition of the championships take place in Costa Rica. Colombia and Mexico will follow as hosts in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
