Changes in the 2021 junior season: EJYOC, EYOC and JEC involved

The postponed European Junior and Youth Orienteering Championships in Hungary now scheduled for April 24-26 2021 will welcome the same participants who were eligible to participate in 2020. So those born in 2000 can still race in the M/W 20 class, those born in 2002 can still race in the M/W18 class and those born in 2004 can race in the M/W 16 class. (A decision about if EJYOC can be organised in Hungary in April will be taken by IOF Council in January.)

The European Youth Orienteering Championships 2021 in Lithuania is postponed to 19-22 August to give the youth competitors enough time to recover between the two Championships. EYOC 2021 website: eyoc2021.lt

Another important event for junior and youth athletes is the non-IOF event Junior European Cup, organised in Belgium this time. The Junior European Cup is also postponed and rescheduled for April 2-5 2021. The classes at JEC are M/W 20 and M/W 18. More information available at jec2020.frso.be

The Junior World Orienteering Championships 2021 in Turkey takes place in its usual summer dates: July 11-16.

– We really hope to resume normal business in 2021. The international junior calendar involves a consolation event for athletes who had to miss their last JWOC. The organisers of all these events had to shift their dates to offer an attractive annual programme for our future stars, says IOF Foot Orienteering Commission Chair person Aron Less.
