Gold WRE’s coming to Canada, Brazil and Hungary in the autumn

The International Orienteering Federation is pleased to announce that three events across three different continents have been awarded IOF Gold World Ranking Event status for the autumn season.

In September, the Eastern Canadian and Quebec Championships will host two Gold WRE races in Canada, while October will feature the Honvéd Cup in Hungary and the Cerrado Orienteering Trophy in Brazil as Gold WRE events.

The addition of these competitions highlights the continued global expansion of elite orienteering and demonstrates how the IOF Gold WRE concept is reaching new regions and communities around the world. With events now taking place across North America, South America and Europe within just a few weeks, athletes will have new opportunities to compete in high-quality terrains and in strong elite fields around the world.

It is also a strong signal to organizers all over the world that WRE races can be held with extra focus on promotion and increased visibility through the Gold WRE status.
